Helicobacter pylori infection, a significant global burden beyond the gastrointestinal tract, has long been implicated in various systemic pathologies. Rising evidence suggests that the bacterium's intricate relationship with the immune system and its potential to induce chronic inflammation impact diverse pathophysiological processes in pregnant women that may in turn affect the incidence of several adverse pregnancy and neonate outcomes. Helicobacter pylori infection, which has been linked to metabolic syndrome and other disorders by provoking pericyte dysfunction, hyperhomocysteinemia, galectin-3, atrial fibrillation, gut dysbiosis, and mast cell activation pathologies, may also contribute to adverse pregnancy and neonatal outcomes. Together with increasing our biological understanding of the individual and collective involvement of Helicobacter pylori infection-related metabolic syndrome and concurrent activation of mast cells in maternal, fetus, and neonatal health outcomes, the present narrative review may foster related research endeavors to offer novel therapeutic approaches and informed clinical practice interventions to mitigate relevant risks of this critical topic among pregnant women and their offspring. Objective To investigate the relationship between Helicobacter pylori （Hp） infection and serum gastrointestinal hormones and monoamine neurotransmitter levels in patients with ulcerative colitis. Methods 145 patients newly diagnosed with ulcerative colitis were selected into the study group，and 140 patients without abnormal results by gastrointestinal endoscopy were assigned into the control group. In two groups，Hp infection was diagnosed by using 13C urea breath test （13C-UBT）. The levels of gastrointestinal hormones（substance P （SP），endothelin （ET），vasoactive intestinal peptide （VIP））and monoamine neurotransmitters（norepinephrine （NE），5-hydroxytryptamine （5-HT）） were detected. Serum levels of gastrointestinal hormones and monoamine neurotransmitters were compared between active and remission phase patients in the study group. Serum levels of gastrointestinal hormones and monoamine neurotransmitters were compared between Hp-positive and -negative patients. The relationship between Hp infection and gastrointestinal hormone- and monoamine neurotransmitter-related indexes in patients with ulcerative colitis was assessed by Logistic regression analysis. Results Hp infection rate and VIP level in the study group were lower，whereas the levels of SP，ET，NE，and 5-HT were higher than those in the control group （all P<0.05）. Hp infection rate and VIP level in the active phase group were lower，while the levels of SP，ET，NE，and 5-HT were higher than those in the remission phase group （all P<0.05）. Conclusions In ulcerative colitis patients，there are differences in the levels of gastrointestinal hormones and monoamine neurotransmitters between patients with and without Hp infection. Hp infection may be correlated with the changes in the levels of gastrointestinal hormones and monoamine neurotransmitters.

Material and Methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional community-based study, in the central region of the kingdom. The target population of this study was adult patients with H. pylori infection, and a sample of 808 Saudi and non-Saudi male and female individuals were randomly selected using an online questionnaire. A consent form was obtained from all participants. Ethical approval was obtained from the university ethics committee. Results: There were a total of 808 responses. Most participants were female (89.4%) (n = 722) and between the ages of 35 and 60 years (60.8%), and most participants had a bachelor's degree (62.4%). 53.47% of the participants have good knowledge regarding their disease. Most of the participants knew it could cause gastric and duodenal ulcers (82.5%), but they did not know the infection might cause gastric cancer (48.6%). Conclusion: The study concluded that the majority of patients with H. pylori infection (53.47%) have good knowledge regarding their disease. Additionally, many participants were aware of the symptoms associated with H. pylori. Furthermore, many participants complained about their treatment.

Background: Despite the numerous articles discussing the relationship between diabetes mellitus type 2 (DMT2) and chronic Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection the results have been inconsistent, necessitating further research. This study investigated the coexistence of Helicobacter pylori infection and DMT2. Methods: We conducted a study in selected laboratories in Tehran, measuring the H.Pylori stool antigen (HpSA) in individuals referred by physicians for a glycosylated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) test. Results: Out of the 2500 patients who were referred to randomly selected laboratories, a total of 2025 (81%) patients had serum HbA1c levels above 6.5%. of 2025 patients with HbA1c levels above 6.5%, 1321 (52.84%) had HpSA in their stool. No significant gender difference was observed, with a mean age ± SD, 48.65 ± 7.55. HpSA was positive in 52.84% of the DM group, while in the non-DM group, HpSA was positive in 37.36% of cases. Fecal antigen titers are not related to gender (P = 0.274) but are related to age (r = 0.213, P=0.034). Conclusion: Long-term infection with Helicobacter pylori may be significantly associated with elevated HgA1c.Testing for H. pylori infection, regular monitoring of blood sugar and HbA1c levels in high-risk people can prevent DMT2.

(1) Background: Gastroduodenal perforation (GDP) is a life-threatening condition caused by a spontaneous or traumatic event. Treatment should be based on the mechanism of damage, timing, location, extent of the injury, and the patient's clinical condition. We aimed to examine several etiologic factors associated with gastroduodenal perforation and to search for the best method(s) for its prevention and treatment. (2) Methods: We conducted extensive literature reviews by searching numerous studies obtained from PubMed, Science Direct, and Cochrane for the following keywords: gastroduodenal perforation, Helicobacter pylori, NSAIDs' use, side effects of GDP, laparoscopy, and surgery. The primary outcome was the reported occurrence of GDP. (3) Results: Using keywords, 883 articles were identified. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 53 studies were eligible for the current analyses, with a total number of 34,692 gastroduodenal perforation cases. Even though the risk factors of gastroduodenal perforation are various, the prevalence of H. pylori among patients with perforation is considerably high. As technology develops, the treatment for gastric perforation will also improve, with laparoscopic surgery having a lower mortality and complication rate compared to open surgery for GDP treatment. (4) Conclusions: H. pylori infection plays the most significant role in GDP, more than NSAIDs, surgery, chemotherapy, or transplantation. Treatment of H. pylori infection is essential to decrease the prevalence of GDP and speed up its recovery. However, urgent cases require immediate intervention, such as laparoscopic or open surgery. Abstract Objective To investigate the correlation between colorectal polyps (CRP) and Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection, and the correlation between CRP and the expression of phosphorylated ribosomal protein S6 kinase (p-S6K1). Besides, its related influencing factors were determined in the present study. Methods A total of 191 subjects who underwent colonoscopy in our hospital from January 2020 to February 2022 were selected for this study. Among them, 141 patients were diagnosed with CRP, and the other 50 subjects were no significant colorectal abnormalities. 141 CRP patients were divided into H. pylori-positive group (n = 89) and H. pylori-negative group (n = 52) according to the results of the H. pylori test. The expression of p-S6K1 in CRP tissue was detected. The relationship between the p-S6K1 expression and the clinicopathological characteristics of CRP patients was analyzed. The logistic analysis of factors influencing the occurrence of CRP was performed. Abstract Background Helicobacter pylori (HP) infection is associated with various diseases. Early detection can prevent the onset of illness. We constructed a nomogram to predict groups at high risk of HP infection. Methods Patients who underwent regular medical check-ups at hospital in Chaoshan, China from March to September 2022 were randomly allocated to the training and validation cohorts. Risk factors including basic characteristics and lifestyle habits associated with HP infection were analyzed by logistic regression analyses. The independent varieties were calculated and plotted into a nomogram. The nomogram was internally validated by receiver operating characteristic curve, calibration, and decision curve analyses (DCAs). Results Of the 945 patients, 680 were included in the training cohort and 265 in the validation cohort. 356 patients in training cohort with positive 13 C-UBT results served as the infected group, and 324 without infection were the control group. The multivariate regression analyses showed that the risk factors for HP infection included alcohol consumption (OR = 1.29, 95%CI = 0.78–2.13, P = 0.03), family history of gastric disease (OR = 4.35, 95%CI = 1.47–12.84, P = 0.01), living with an HP-positive individual (OR = 18.09, 95%CI = 10.29–31.82, P 3 times per day (OR = 0.56, 95%CI = 0.33–0.95, P = 0.03), using serving chopsticks (OR = 0.30, 95%CI = 0.12–0.49, P

Objectives: Helicobacter pylori is a gram-negative curved bacillus that assumes a significant role in colon cancer and children´s diseases. This study aimed to examine the association between H. pylori infection with colon cancer and children´s diseases in order to achieve a comprehensive understanding of these associations and for future works. Methods: Three main databases (i.e., Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials [CENTRAL], Scopus, and MEDLINE) were systematically searched by two reviewers from their inception date to 2022 in order to determine the association between the H. pylori infection with the colon cancer and children’s diseases. Results: The findings of two meta-analyses were similar regarding the positive association between the risks of colorectal neoplasm (pooled OR=0.18; 95% CI of 0.99–1.40; P>0.05) and colon neoplasia (pooled OR=0.41; 95% confidence interval 1.24–1.60; P=0.000). H. pylori was associated with an increased risk of colorectal adenoma, adenocarcinoma, and advanced adenoma. Also H. pylori infection was correlated with a high risk of iron deficiency anemia (IDA), otitis media with effusion (OME), Henoch-Schonlein purpura, and growth disorders in children. Conclusions: In sum, the H. pylori infection may have been associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer and children’s diseases.

Background: Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection is strongly related to peptic ulcer disease, chronic gastritis, and gastric malignancies. Therefore, H. pylori eradication is necessary in these cases. This study was aimed to compare the efficacy of 14-day reverse hybrid therapy with standard 14-day concomitant regimen for H. pylori eradication in Iran. Methods: Of the 317 patients with dyspepsia and H. pylori infection enrolled in the study, 153 and 164 patients were randomly assigned to reverse hybrid and concomitant groups, respectively. The reverse hybrid regimen containing pantoprazole, amoxicillin, clarithromycin, and metronidazole was taken every 12 hours in the first 7 days, however, Clarithromycin and Metronidazole were discontinued within the next 7 days. Patients in the concomitant group also received the same drugs for 14-day. Eradication confirmation tests were used 8 weeks after the end of treatments. Results: A crowd of 281 patients continued the trial until the end. H. pylori eradication rates based on intention to treat analysis were 71.2% (109/153) and 83.5% (137/164) in reverse hybrid and concomitant groups, respectively (P = 0.007). By the per-protocol analysis, rates of eradication were 85.8% (109/127) and 89% (137/154), respectively (P = 0.428). Severe side effects were few in both groups. More side effects were observed in concomitant group (p < 0.001), however, the severity of side effects was not statistically different between the two regimens (P = 0.314). Reverse hybrid regimen was better tolerated (98% vs. 91.5%, P= 0.009). Conclusion: Both 14-day reverse hybrid and concomitant regimens have a fair response rate in Iran.

Abstract Background and Aim There is an intimate relationship between oxidative stress and inflammation. Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection leads to gastritis in almost all the hosts. So, we hypothesize that gastritis in H. pylori infection may be described as the accumulation of continuous oxidative damage. Methods The study was conducted from October 2020 to October 2021 at three reference health facilities in Cameroon. A total of 266 participants (131 males and 135 females) ranging from 15 to 88 years old with 48.28 ± 17.29 years as mean age were enrolled. Each participant gave a written informed consent and ethical committees approved the protocol. Biopsies samples were collected for H. pylori detection using histological examination and rapid urease test. Malondialdehyde (MDA) and glutathione (GSH) content, and catalase (CAT) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities were evaluated in serum as biomarkers of oxidative stress. Results Helicobacter pylori was detected in 71.80% of our sample population. BackgroundSarcopenia can lead to significant personal, social, and economic burdens. The diagnosis of sarcopenia heavily relies on the identification of Low Skeletal Muscle Mass (LSMM), which is an independent predictor of frailty, disability, and increased risk of death among seniors. Women have physiologically lower levels of skeletal muscle mass than men, and female sarcopenia appears to be more influenced by menopause. They also tend to have higher body fat levels than man, which increases the risk of sarcopenia obesity. On another front, it’s also recognized that humans are largely prone to Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection, with global prevalence rates often surpassing 50%. Nevertheless, the interconnection between H. pylori infection and LSMM remains relatively unexplored. Hence, our study specifically targeted women as the research population and sought to explore several risk factors for LSMM. Additionally, we delved into the potential correlation between LSMM and H. pylori infection in women, hoping to gain insights into potential preventative measures or treatment options that may enhance the quality of life for women affected by sarcopenia.MethodsWe conducted a cross-sectional study among women aged over 18 years undergoing physical examination. We performed 13C-urea breath test (UBT) for diagnosis of H. pylori infection and Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) for the assessment of LSMM. Logistic regression models were used to analyze the associations of H. pylori infection with LSMM.ResultsThis study enrolled 1984 Chinese women who were undergoing health check-ups. A univariate logistic regression analysis did not reveal a direct correlation between H. pylori infection and LSMM among this female population (OR=1.149, 95% CI 0.904-1.459, p=0.257). Yet, upon dividing the participants into age-based subgroups, an evident link was observed between H. pylori infection and LSMM in women aged 40 or above (OR=1.381, 95%CI 1.032-1.848, p= 0.030). After adjusting for variables including Age, BMI, TP, ALK, Cre, this relationship remained statistically relevant (OR=1.514, 95%CI 1.085-2.113, p= 0.015).ConclusionsWomen who are over 40 years old and currently infected with H. pylori have an increased risk of developing LSMM. Therefore, timely treatment for H. pylori eradication is recommended for this group of women to reduce the occurrence of LSMM.

Abstract Background Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is one of the leading causes of peptic ulcers, and its treatment is a worldwide challenge. Matrix metalloproteinases and their inhibitors influence the development and healing of peptic ulcers. This study aimed to evaluate the ratios of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) to tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1) in patients with peptic ulcers that are sensitive or resistant to H. pylori treatment and compare them with healthy individuals. Methods In this study, 95 patients were included and divided into two groups sensitive (41 patients) and resistant to treatment (54 patients). The results were compared with a control group of 20 participants with normal endoscopy and H. pylori-negative. After obtaining written informed consent, five ml of venous blood was taken to determine their serum MMP-2 and TIMP-1 levels using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Abstract Background The day-to-day (DTD) management model encourages patients to actively participate in their healthcare by setting goals. We determined the effectiveness of the DTD model in the treatment of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection, as compared with conventional outpatient education (OE). Methods We randomized 254 H. pylori-positive patients into a DTD group (127 patients) and an OE group (127 patients) prior to primary treatment with 14-day bismuth-containing quadruple therapy, including esomeprazole, amoxicillin, and clarithromycin. Both groups received consistent medication instructions. Patients in the DTD group recorded daily attendance after completing their daily medication plan from day 1 to day 14. The medication compliance, follow-up compliance, H. pylori eradication rates, and adverse events (AEs) were evaluated. Results In the modified intention-to-treat (MITT) and per-protocol (PP) analyses, the DTD group showed significantly higher medication compliance than the OE group (P = 0.001 and P = 0.031, respectively). The p-S6K1 negative group showed significant difference in the number and pathological type of polyps and the presence or absence of a pedicle as compared with the p-S6K1 positive group (P = 0.006, P < 0.001 and P = 0.012). Logistic multifactor analysis showed that BMI, H. pylori infection, smoking history, ApoB, Lp(a) and the p-S6K1 positive expression were all risk factors for the development of CRP (P = 0.025, P = 0.020, P = 0.010, P = 0.005, P = 0.043 and P < 0.001). Conclusion: H. pylori infection was closely related to the pathological type, location, and the number and size of CRP. p-S6K1 was highly expressed in CRP, and was positively related to the number, the pathological type and pedicle of polyps. H. pylori infection and the positive p-S6K1 expression were independent risk factors for CRP. By exploring the association between H. pylori infection as well as p-S6K1 and CRP, it is hoped that it will help to formulate a more rigorous colorectal cancer screening program for H. pylori-positive individuals, and at the same time find a new direction for the prevention of CRP and colorectal cancer, and provide some help for future research. The nomogram had an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.85 in the training cohort. The DCA was above the reference line within a large threshold range, indicating that the model was better. The calibration analyses showed the actual occurrence rate was basically consistent with the predicted occurrence rate. The model was validated in the validation cohort, and had a good AUC (0.80), DCA and calibration curve results. Conclusions: This nomogram, which incorporates basic characteristics and lifestyle habits, is an efficient model for predicting those at high risk of HP infection in the Chaoshan region. Key findings: A nomogram, which included alcohol consumption, living with an HP-positive individual, using serving chopsticks, drinking hot tea, a family history of gastric cancer, the infection status of co-drinkers unknown, and drinking tea > 3 times per day, was established to to predict groups at high risk of HP infection in Chaoshan. In adults with immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), the identification of H. pylori infection and its subsequent eradication proved to aid platelet recovery. Similar findings, at a smaller scale, were allegedly reported by some pediatric studies. This review's objective was to establish the influence of H. pylori infection and its eradication upon platelet count and recovery in pediatric ITP. Three databases, namely Pubmed, Scopus and Web of Science, were searched for pediatric studies which investigated a link between H. pylori infection and thrombocytopenia. The search results retrieved a number of 21 articles which complied to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Some studies report lower platelet values among children with ITP and documented H. pylori infection, as well as an improve in platelet numbers after H. pylori treatment. However, results are controversial, as multiple authors failed to identify a higher prevalence of H. pylori among children with ITP or a lack of significant change in therapeutic outcome with the addition of an eradication regimen to standard treatment. The main limitations of current pediatric studies remain the small study samples and the short follow-up periods of the included subjects. Objectives: Helicobacter pylori is a gram-negative curved bacillus that assumes a significant role in colon cancer and children's diseases. This study aimed to examine the association between H. pylori infection with colon cancer and children's diseases in order to achieve a a comprehensive understanding of these associations and for future works. Methods: Three main databases (i.e., Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials [CENTRAL], Scopus, and MEDLINE) were systematically searched by two reviewers from their inception date to 2022 in order to determine the association between the H. pylori infection with the colon cancer and children's diseases. Results: The findings of two meta-analyses were similar regarding the positive association between the risks of colorectal neoplasm (pooled OR=0.18; 95% CI of 0.99-1.40; P > 0.05) and colon neoplasia (pooled OR=0.41; 95% confidence interval 1.24-1.60; P=0.000). H. pylori was associated with an increased risk of colorectal adenoma, adenocarcinoma, and advanced adenoma. Also H. pylori infection was correlated with a high risk of iron deficiency anemia (IDA), otitis media with effusion (OME), Henoch-Schonlein purpura, and growth disorders in children. Objective: To analyze the effect of Gongying Yiwei Decoction + quadruple therapy on the curative effect of chronic gastritis patients infected with Helicobacter pylori (HP). 80 patients with HP positive chronic gastritis diagnosed and treated in our hospital were randomly divided into a matched group and an experimental group, with 40 patients in each group. The treatment effects, symptom scores before and after treatment, symptom relief time, HP clearance rate and recurrence rate, and adverse reaction rate of the two groups were compared. Results: The total effective rate of treatment in the experimental group was 97.50%, and that in the matched group was 77.50%. The effective rate of treatment in the experimental group was higher than that in the matched group (P<0. 05); There was no significant difference in the scores of symptoms of epigastric pain, acid reflux, belching and postprandial fullness between the two groups before treatment (P>0.05). After treatment, the scores of symptoms of epigastric pain, acid reflux, belching and postprandial fullness in the two groups decreased, and the scores of the above symptoms in the experimental group were lower than those in the matched group after treatment (P<0.05); The relief time of abdominal dull pain, poor appetite and acid reflux in the experimental group was shorter than that in the matched group (P<0.05); There was no difference between the two groups (P>0.05); The HP eradication rate of the patients in the experimental group was higher than that of the matched group, and the recurrence rate was lower than that of the matched group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Gongying Yiwei Decoction + quadruple therapy has a significant effect on alleviating the clinical symptoms of chronic gastritis patients infected with HP and promoting the remission of their conditions in a short time. At the same time, this treatment scheme can also effectively clear Helicobacter pylori in patients, avoid repeated attacks of the disease, reduce the recurrence rate of the disease, and have fewer adverse reactions, which can ensure the safety of drug use for patients. OBJECTIVE: In recent years, Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) has been increasingly associated with extra-digestive manifestations, including scleroderma, rheumatism, and blood system diseases. Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is a common chronic disease worldwide, with an insidious onset, but as the disease progresses, it will eventually seriously affect the quality of life of patients. The aim of our study was to investigate the relationship between H. pylori infection, iron deficiency (ID), and IDA, and to identify potential serological markers. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional study of 998 individuals who had regular physical examinations at Beijing Shijitan Hospital from January 2021 to March 2022. We detected H. pylori infection by the 13C breath test, and recorded the patient's serum iron, ferritin, transferrin saturation, blood count, etc. We assessed the association between IDA and H. pylori infection and related serum markers using logistic regression and multiple linear regression. Afterward, we analyzed the correlation between sex and potential serum biomarkers. RESULTS: Among all study participants, 57.5% of patients had H. pylori and 42.5% did not have H. pylori. ID and IDA were significantly associated with H. pylori infection in women (p=0.031). This association persisted after further adjustment for sex, metabolic variables, liver function, and kidney function. Fasting blood glucose, triglycerides, and uric acid may be associated with IDA. CONCLUSIONS: In women, H. pylori infection is associated with ID and IDA. The relationship between H. pylori and IDA may be mediated by glycometabolism, lipid metabolism, and uric acid metabolism. Background: Despite the numerous articles discussing the relationship between diabetes mellitus type 2 (DMT2) and chronic Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection the results have been inconsistent, necessitating further research. This study investigated the coexistence of Helicobacter pylori infection and DMT2. Methods: We conducted a study in selected laboratories in Tehran, measuring the H.Pylori stool antigen (HpSA) in individuals referred by physicians for a glycosylated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) test. Results: Out of the 2500 patients who were referred to randomly selected laboratories, a total of 2025 (81%) patients had serum HbA1c levels above 6.5%. of 2025 patients with HbA1c levels above 6.5%, 1321 (52.84%) had HpSA in their stool. No significant gender difference was observed, with a mean age ± SD, 48.65 ± 7.55. HpSA was positive in 52.84% of the DM group, while in the non-DM group, HpSA was positive in 37.36% of cases. Fecal antigen titers are not related to gender (P = 0.274) but are related to age (r = 0.213, P=0.034). Conclusion: Long-term infection with Helicobacter pylori may be significantly associated with elevated HgA1c.Testing for H. pylori infection, regular monitoring of blood sugar and HbA1c levels in high-risk people can prevent DMT2. Aims: Our aim was to assess, in obese patients undergoing Roux-en Y gastric bypass surgery, the bismuth quadruple therapy (BQT) eradication rates at the first-line Helicobacter pylori (Hp) treatment as proposed by the Maastricht V/Florence consensus in areas with high clarithromycin (CLT) resistance rates–10 days proton pump inhibitor bid and three-in-one single capsule bismuth therapy containing bismuth, metronidazole, and tetracycline, marketed as Pylera four times a day. Methods: This is a single-center prospective study over a 3-year period. Endoscopy and Hp assessment by histology was performed at baseline, and posttreatment Hp status was assessed by C13 urea breath test 4–6 weeks after the end of therapy. Data analysis was performed using the IBM® SPSS® Statistics 28.0 (IBM Corp. 2021, Armonk, NY) using mostly nonparametric comparisons (α = 0.05). Results: The study cohort consisted of 598 adult obese Hp-positive patients [476, 78.6% female, age 43.2 (± 10.4) years] consecutively scheduled for Hp eradication therapy. Hp was eradicated in 500 patients [83.6.3% (95% CI: 80.4%–86.5%)], and the eradication was independent of gender, age, endoscopic diagnosis, and smoking status (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Ten days of BQT did achieve Maastricht V/Florence recommended first-line eradication rates (at least 80%) in obese Portuguese patients undergoing Roux-en Y gastric bypass, being by now the most reliable choice for Hp eradication. Abstract Introduction High-dose dual therapy (HDDT) can attain acceptable eradication rates provided that the optimal doses, timing and treatment duration are applied. The existing evidence still shows inconsistent reports ( 90% eradication rates for first-line H. pylori eradication as 14-day rabeprazole-containing HT did. HDDT is a potentially beneficial combination, which involves only two drugs with mild adverse effects; more precise studies are urged to find answers regarding these failures. Abstract Dyspepsia still becomes a major challenge in upper gastrointestinal disease in Indonesia. This disease often correlated with Helicobacter pylori infection. However, the prevalence of this bacterium is generally low in Indonesia. Therefore, several considerations should be taken into consideration during the management of dyspepsia and H. pylori infection. “Management of dyspepsia and H. pylori infection in Indonesia: The Indonesian consensus report” comprises information gathered from 22 gastroenterology centers across Indonesia. The experts gathered to evolve a consensus, that consists of the statements, grades of recommendations, evidence levels, and rationales for the dyspepsia and H. pylori infection management for daily clinical practice. The report explains several aspects from the updated epidemiology information to comprehensive management therapy. After the experts worked together on all statements in the recommendations, the results are presented with the final agreement as a consensus to help clinicians in understanding, diagnosing, and treating dyspepsia and H. pylori infection patients in daily clinical practice in Indonesia.

Abstract Helicobacter pylori is one of the most common chronic bacterial infections in humans and responsible for 90% of duodenal ulcers and 70–90% of gastric ulcers. Despite this, many misconceptions regarding the appropriate diagnostic method and treatment strategies still exist in the Malaysian clinical practice. Under the initiative of the steering committee, an expert panel consisting of nine key opinion leaders in the field of gastroenterology convened to develop a set of consensus statements that are relevant to the Malaysian healthcare practice. The panel members reviewed the current evidence on the management of H. pylori infection, focusing on the best practices that are relevant to the Malaysian population based on clinical experience and published clinical evidence. Using the modified Delphi method, the panel achieved consensus in three areas of H. pylori infection management: indications for testing, diagnosis, and treatment. The panel proposed a set of 19 consensus statements, which were synthesized via two rounds of blinded voting and group discussions. The recommendations provided are relevant to the Malaysian population and can be used as a guide by physicians across various healthcare settings to facilitate appropriate diagnostic testing and treatment of H. pylori infection.

(1) Background: Gastroduodenal perforation (GDP) is a life-threatening condition caused by a spontaneous or traumatic event. Treatment should be based on the mechanism of damage, timing, location, extent of the injury, and the patient’s clinical condition. We aimed to examine several etiologic factors associated with gastroduodenal perforation and to search for the best method(s) for its prevention and treatment. (2) Methods: We conducted extensive literature reviews by searching numerous studies obtained from PubMed, Science Direct, and Cochrane for the following keywords: gastroduodenal perforation, Helicobacter pylori, NSAIDs’ use, side effects of GDP, laparoscopy, and surgery. The primary outcome was the reported occurrence of GDP. (3) Results: Using keywords, 883 articles were identified. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 53 studies were eligible for the current analyses, with a total number of 34,692 gastroduodenal perforation cases. Even though the risk factors of gastroduodenal perforation are various, the prevalence of H. pylori among patients with perforation is considerably high. As technology develops, the treatment for gastric perforation will also improve, with laparoscopic surgery having a lower mortality and complication rate compared to open surgery for GDP treatment. (4) Conclusions: H. pylori infection plays the most significant role in GDP, more than NSAIDs, surgery, chemotherapy, or transplantation. Treatment of H. pylori infection is essential to decrease the prevalence of GDP and speed up its recovery. However, urgent cases require immediate intervention, such as laparoscopic or open surgery.

Background: Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is one of the leading causes of peptic ulcers, and its treatment is a worldwide challenge. Matrix metalloproteinases and their inhibitors influence the development and healing of peptic ulcers. This study aimed to evaluate the ratios of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) to tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1) in patients with peptic ulcers that are sensitive or resistant to H. pylori treatment and compare them with healthy individuals. Methods: In this study, 95 patients were included and divided into two groups sensitive (41 patients) and resistant to treatment (54 patients). The results were compared with a control group of 20 participants with normal endoscopy and H. pylori-negative. After obtaining written informed consent, five ml of venous blood was taken to determine their serum MMP-2 and TIMP-1 levels using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results: In patients with H. pylori-induced peptic ulcers, the MMP-2/TIMP-1 ratio was significantly higher than the healthy controls (P < 0.05). MMP-2 level was associated with patients' response to treatment (P < 0.05). The MMP-2/TIMP-1 ratio was higher in patients with simultaneous gastric and duodenal ulcers (P < 0.05). Conclusion: It seems that peptic ulcer disease caused by infection with H. pylori increases the MMP-2/TIMP-1 ratio in patients with peptic ulcers. Background: Helicobacter pylori infection remains a major public health threat leading to gastrointestinal illness and increased risk of gastric cancer. Mostly affecting populations in developing countries no vaccines are yet available and the disease is controlled by antimicrobials which, in turn, are driving the emergence of AMR. Materials and Methods: We have engineered spores of Bacillus subtilis to display putative H. pylori protective antigens, urease subunit A (UreA) and subunit B (UreB) on the spore surface. Following oral dosing of mice with these spores, we evaluated immunity and colonization in animals challenged with H. pylori. Results: Oral immunization with spores expressing either UreA or UreB showed antigen‐specific mucosal responses (fecal sIgA) including seroconversion and hyperimmunity. Following challenge, colonization by H. pylori was significantly reduced by up to 1‐log. Conclusions: This study demonstrates the utility of bacterial spores for mucosal vaccination to H. pylori infection. The heat stability and robustness of Bacillus spores coupled with their existing use as probiotics make them an attractive solution for either protection against H. pylori infection or potentially for therapy and control of active infection. Background: Helicobacter pylori infection acquisition occurs mainly in childhood and may be a critical factor in developing long‐term complications. In contrast to other developed countries, previous studies have reported a relatively high H. pylori infection prevalence in Portugal, both in children and adults. However, there are no recent data concerning pediatric population. Materials and Methods: We performed a retrospective observational study concerning an 11 years period (2009, 2014, 2019), that included patients under 18 years old who underwent upper endoscopy at a pediatric tertiary center. Demographic, clinical‐pathological, and microbiological data were collected. Results: Four hundred and sixty one children were included. The average age was 11.7 ± 4.4 years. In total, H. pylori infection was confirmed in 37.3% of cases (histology and/or culture) and a decreasing infection trend was observed (p =.027). The most common indication for endoscopy was abdominal pain, which was a good predictor of infection. Antral nodularity was present in 72.2% of the infected children (p <.001). In the oldest age groups, moderate/severe chronic inflammation, H. pylori density and lymphoid aggregates/follicles were positive predictors for the presence of antral nodularity. For all ages, the presence of antral nodularity, neutrophilic activity in the antrum and corpus and lymphoid follicles/aggregates in the antrum were positive predictors for the presence of H. pylori infection. Among the 139 strains tested for antibiotic susceptibility, 48.9% were susceptible to all tested antibiotics. Resistance to clarithromycin, metronidazole, and both was detected in 23.0%, 12.9%, and 6.5% of the strains, respectively; furthermore, resistance to ciprofloxacin and to amoxicillin was observed in 5.0% and 1.4% of the strains, respectively. Conclusions: The present study reports (for the first time in Portugal) a significant decreasing trend in the prevalence of pediatric H. pylori infection, although it remains relatively high compared to the recently reported prevalence in other South European countries. We confirmed a previously recognized positive association of some endoscopic and histological features with H. pylori infection, as well as a high prevalence rate of resistance to clarithromycin and to metronidazole. The clinical relevance of these findings requires confirmation with further studies at a national level, taking into account the high incidence rate of gastric cancer in Portugal and the potential need for country‐specific intervention strategies. Background: The day-to-day (DTD) management model encourages patients to actively participate in their healthcare by setting goals. We determined the effectiveness of the DTD model in the treatment of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection, as compared with conventional outpatient education (OE). Methods: We randomized 254 H. pylori-positive patients into a DTD group (127 patients) and an OE group (127 patients) prior to primary treatment with 14-day bismuth-containing quadruple therapy, including esomeprazole, amoxicillin, and clarithromycin. Both groups received consistent medication instructions. Patients in the DTD group recorded daily attendance after completing their daily medication plan from day 1 to day 14. The medication compliance, follow-up compliance, H. pylori eradication rates, and adverse events (AEs) were evaluated. Results: In the modified intention-to-treat (MITT) and per-protocol (PP) analyses, the DTD group showed significantly higher medication compliance than the OE group (P = 0.001 and P = 0.031, respectively). Both the MITT and PP analyses showed significant differences in follow-up compliance (P < 0.001 and P = 0.003, respectively) and timing of the review urea breath test (P < 0.001 and P = 0.001, respectively) between the two groups. However, no significant differences were observed in the H. pylori eradication rates (95.8% vs. 93.8%, P = 0.529) in the PP analysis, or AEs incidence (25.4% vs. 28.3%, P = 0.603) between the two groups. Conclusion: This study demonstrated the novel application of the DTD model in the treatment of H. pylori infection, which enabled patients to develop habitual medication-taking behaviors without physician intervention. Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) has infected more than half of the world's population, and is the major cause of gastric cancer. The efficacy of standard antibiotic‐based triple therapy is declining due to drug resistance development. Herein, a pH‐responsive reactive oxygen species (ROS) nanogenerator (Fe‐HMME@DHA@MPN) composed of acid‐responsive metal polyphenol network (MPN) shell and mesoporous metal‐organic nanostructure core [Fe‐HMME (hematoporphyrin monomethyl ether, sonosensitizer)] loaded with dihydroartemisinin (DHA) is reported. These nanoparticles generate more ROS singlet oxygen than sonosensitizer HMME under ultrasonication, and this sonodynamic process is fueled by oxygen generated through Fenton/Fenton‐like reactions of the degraded product in gastric acid Fe (II) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in the infection microenvironment. The encapsulated DHA, as a hydroperoxide source, is found to enhance the peroxidase‐like activity of the Fe‐HMME@DHA@MPN to generate ROS hydroxyl radical, beneficial for the microenvironment without sufficient H2O2. In vitro experiments demonstrate that the ROS nanogenerators are capable of killing multidrug‐resistant H. pylori and removing biofilm, and ROS nanogenerators show high therapeutic efficacy in a H. pylori infection mouse model. Unlike the triple therapy, the nanogenerators display negligible side effects toward the normal gut microbiota. Taken together, these self‐enhanced ROS nanogenerators have a great potential for treatment of H. pylori infection. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: to present an analysis of the published materials of the consensus “Maastricht-VI” on the management of patients with Helicobacter pylori (H. рylori) infection.Key points. The content of the new consensus “Maastricht-VI” largely corresponds to that of the previous “Maastricht-V” consensus. This refers to the methods of diagnostics of this infection, indications for eradication. The introduction of eradication schemes of the 3rd and 4th lines, as well as a double scheme with increased doses of proton pump inhibitors (PPI) and amoxicillin can be considered new. The important role of measures that increase the effectiveness of eradication (14-day duration of the course, increasing the dose of PPI, the use of probiotics) is emphasized.Conclusion. The publication of materials of the new consensus “Maastricht-VI” will contribute to improving the results of H. рylori eradication therapy.

Timely and adequate treatment of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection is essential, bearing in mind its high prevalence rate (> 50%), the fact that infection with this pathogen causes chronic gastritis, as well as significant complications in the form of ulcer disease, MALT lymphoma, metaplasia and adenocarcinoma of the stomach. Numerous national recommendations and international guidelines dictate the effectiveness of therapy, but their inconsistent implementation disrupts the cure rate and increases the possibility of developing antibiotic resistance. According to preliminary data, the resistance rate in Serbia is high. The goal of therapeutic guidelines should be efficient therapy, which is safe and which, if possible, prevents the growing resistance to antibiotics. New diagnostic techniques such as bacterial culture and PCR (Polymerase chain reaction) can facilitate diagnosis and determine antibiotic resistance, which further leads to the possible application of a tailored made therapy that can enable a better cure rate by preventing further antibiotic resistance.

Objective To investigate the rate and risk factors of Helicobacter pylori(Hp) infection in patients with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD). Methods A survey was conducted from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020 by sending an electronic questionnaire to long-term follow-up IBD patients of Peking Union Medical College Hospital and age-sex-matched Beijing community residents. General information, information related to Hp infection and environmental factors were collected from the two groups. The differences in Hp positivity rates between the two groups and IBD patients with different clinical profiles were compared. Results After propensity score matching, 122 patients with IBD and 1739 community residents were finally included in this study. The histograms of propensity score values were highly consistent between the two groups. The ratio of Hp infection was significantly lower in IBD patients than in the community residents (13.1% vs. 42.7%, P < 0.001). The ratio of Hp infection in both groups increased with age but showed no statistical significance (all P > 0.05). Univariate analysis showed that the IBD patients with Hp positive co-diners had a significantly higher ratio of Hp infection than those with Hp negative co-diners (43.8% vs. 18.9%, P=0.006). Conclusions The Hp infection rate was lower in IBD patients than in community residents. The possible risk factor may be co-dining with Hp positives.

A structured questionnaire was administered to capture demographic and clinical characteristics of study participants. Four milliliters of blood were then collected into an EDTA vacutainer for Complete Blood Count (CBC) and analyzed using HUMA COUNT 30TS, and peripheral blood smears were made and stained using Giemsa stain. Anemia was defined as hemoglobin levels < 12g/dl in females and < 13g/dl in men according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) stool antigen test was performed using Whole power H. pylori Ag rapid test device, and saline stool preparation was examined for intestinal parasites. Chi-squared test and Logistic regression were performed to determine association, and a p-value of ≤ 0.05 was considered statistically significant.Results: The overall prevalence of Helicobacter pylori infection was 42.4% (120/283). The prevalence of anemia among H. pylori-infected patients was 25.8% (31/120) and 15.3% (25/163) among H. pylori-negative counterparts. H. pylori infection was significantly associated with anemia (p-value 0.042), age (p-value 0.02, 0.009), water sources (p-value 0.0049,) and intestinal parasitic infestation (p-value 0.02), respectively.Conclusion: This study has shown that the prevalence of H. pylori infection and anemia is high among dyspeptic patients at Kiryandongo General Hospital. H. pylori infection was found associated with anemia, age, water sources, and intestinal parasitic infestation. Routine screening of anemia in H. pylori-infected individuals and further studies to explore the relationship between anemia and H. pylori disease is highly recommended.Keywords: anemia, prevalence, Helicobacter pylori infection

Background: Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection is strongly related to peptic ulcer disease, chronic gastritis, and gastric malignancies. Therefore, H. pylori eradication is necessary in these cases. This study was aimed to compare the efficacy of 14-day reverse hybrid therapy with standard 14-day concomitant regimen for H. pylori eradication in Iran. Methods: Of the 317 patients with dyspepsia and H. pylori infection enrolled in the study, 153 and 164 patients were randomly assigned to reverse hybrid and concomitant groups, respectively. The reverse hybrid regimen containing pantoprazole, amoxicillin, clarithromycin, and metronidazole was taken every 12 hours in the first 7 days, however, Clarithromycin and Metronidazole were discontinued within the next 7 days. Patients in the concomitant group also received the same drugs for 14-day. Eradication confirmation tests were used 8 weeks after the end of treatments. Results: A crowd of 281 patients continued the trial until the end. H. pylori eradication rates based on intention to treat analysis were 71.2% (109/153) and 83.5% (137/164) in reverse hybrid and concomitant groups, respectively (P = 0.007). By the per-protocol analysis, rates of eradication were 85.8% (109/127) and 89% (137/154), respectively (P = 0.428). Severe side effects were few in both groups. More side effects were observed in concomitant group (p < 0.001), however, the severity of side effects was not statistically different between the two regimens (P = 0.314). Reverse hybrid regimen was better tolerated (98% vs. 91.5%, P = 0.009). Conclusion: Both 14-day reverse hybrid and concomitant regimens have a fair response rate in Iran. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background and Aim: There is an intimate relationship between oxidative stress and inflammation. Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection leads to gastritis in almost all the hosts. So, we hypothesize that gastritis in H. pylori infection may be described as the accumulation of continuous oxidative damage. Methods: The study was conducted from October 2020 to October 2021 at three reference health facilities in Cameroon. A total of 266 participants (131 males and 135 females) ranging from 15 to 88 years old with 48.28 ± 17.29 years as mean age were enrolled. Each participant gave a written informed consent and ethical committees approved the protocol. Biopsies samples were collected for H. pylori detection using histological examination and rapid urease test. Malondialdehyde (MDA) and glutathione (GSH) content, and catalase (CAT) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities were evaluated in serum as biomarkers of oxidative stress. Results: Helicobacter pylori was detected in 71.80% of our sample population. Low income level was associated with higher GSH level (P = 0.0249) and having family history of gastric cancer to higher SOD activity (P = 0.0156). A significant higher MDA content (P < 0.0001) and SOD activity (P = 0.0235) was recorded among infected individuals compared with noninfected ones. A significantly higher MDA content and SOD activity was recorded among smokers (P = 0.0461) and participants older than 50 years old (P = 0.0491) with H. pylori positivity. Conclusion: Our findings showed that H. pylori infection is associated with overproduction of reactive oxygen species and oxidative stress. The presence of this pathogen in elderly individuals or in smokers increased their risk for oxidative stress. Helicobacter pylori infection induces the production of reactive oxygen species. BackgroundCurrently, the available evidence regarding the relationship between the lipid profile and Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection is limited and conflicting. There is also a dearth of studies that have explored the possibility of sex-specific differences in the association between H. pylori infection and triglyceride levels.MethodsWe conducted a cross-sectional study involving 1,146 participants utilizing data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 1999-2000 conducted in the United States. A logistic regression model was employed to evaluate the association between H. pylori seropositivity and triglyceride levels. Subgroup analyses stratified by sex were conducted to explore sex-specific differences in this association.ResultsSerum triglyceride levels were significantly higher in H. pylori-seropositive participants than in H. pylori-seronegative participants. In the logistic regression analysis, there was a positive correlation between H. pylori seropositivity and triglyceride levels (OR=1.231; 95% CI, 1.016-1.491; P=0.033). In the subgroup analysis, the adjusted association between serum triglycerides and H. pylori seropositivity was significant in females (OR=1.732; 95% CI, 1.113-2.696; P=0.015) but not in males (OR=1.091; 95% CI, 0.698-1.705; P=0.704).ConclusionThe association between high triglyceride levels and H. pylori infection is specific to the female population.

Introduction: Frequent nausea and vomiting in the first trimester of pregnancy is seen in more than half of pregnancies. Severe nausea and vomiting in pregnancy, called hyperemesis gravidarum, sometimes persists until the pregnancy termination. The present study was performed aimed to determine the relationship between Helicobacter pylori infection and hyperemesis gravidarum in pregnant women.Methods: In this case-control study which was performed in 2017-2019, 83 pregnant women with Hyperemesis gravidarum as cases and 83 pregnant women with no symptom of sever vomiting as controls entered the study. The data were collected through a questionnaire containing demographic information of mothers as well as questions about the frequency of retching, vomiting and the feeling of sick to their stomach. Helicobacter pylori is a microaerophile Gram-negative bacillus, resistant to the activity of gastric juice. The bacteria may take the vegetative form (spiral shape) or sporulation form .Liver cirrhosis and H.Pylori infection are two common diseases in our population and reducing the incidence of complications in cirrhotic subjects is an important step in current gastroenterology practice. The aim of the present study is to determine incidence of H. Pylori infection among patients with liver cirrhosis secondary to HCV infection and study the correlation between esophageal varices degree and H. Pylori infection. This study involved 50 patients with liver cirrhosis secondary to Hepatitis C Virus infection were selected from gastroenterology and internal medicine clinics at Beni-Suef general hospital and Beni-Suef university hospital. Our results illustrate that the percent of H. pylori infection among studied patients was 68%, our results illustrate that there is statistically significant association between the grade of varices and the detection of H. pylori; p value is less than 0.001.

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) are one of the most common infections during childhood, and if left untreated it might persist lifelong resulting in severe complications such as gastric malignancies. The epidemiology of this infection has wide variations along the continents, countries and sub-regions being related mainly to the socio-economic status, hygiene and sanitary conditions. Nevertheless, a descending trend of H. pylori prevalence was noticed worldwide during the last decades, fact that might decrease in time the incidence of gastric cancer in adults. The diagnosis of this infection remains tricky in children and the selection of the most effective diagnostic tool is essential in order to early diagnose H. pylori associated gastropathies and extraintestinal manifestations. In spite of the lack of symptoms which occurs especially in pediatric subjects, H. pylori infection might result in severe damage to the gastric mucosa and further complications requiring close monitoring after the eradication regimen. Therefore, multiple non-invasive and invasive methods were designed to identify properly the presence of this bacterium within the individual’s stomach and for enabling the clinician to use to most adequate method based on its sensitivity and specificity, but also based on the specific clinical situations. Aside from the well-known standard triple therapy used for the eradication of this infection, multiple other regimens were lately proposed in order to prevent failure of eradication. Moreover, probiotics were recently proved to improve the eradication rate, and at the same time to decrease the side effects of the antibiotics therapy. The proper eradication of H. pylori infection during childhood remains the cornerstone in preventing gastric cancer during adulthood.

Abstract Background Chronic inflammation has been reported as one of the novel coronary heart disease (CHD) risk factors. Knowing that Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) provokes a local inflammation, the relationship between H. pylori infection and cardiovascular disease (CVD) has received considerable attention. However, the attempt to demonstrate the association between H. pylori and specific cardiovascular disease risk factors is always a challenging issue due to the conflicting reports in the literatures. Methods We performed a cross-sectional study of 363 consecutive dyspeptic subjects in three reference health facilities in Cameroon from October 2020 to October 2021. Each participation gave a written consent and the study was approved by the local Ethical Committee. Check-up for cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors such as dyslipidemia-related parameters, obesity-related parameter, high blood pressure as well as H. pylori detection was done for each participant. Data was analyzed using SSPS statistical package. Results Helicobacter pylori infection was significantly associated with higher total cholesterol level (OR: 2.3324, p = 0.0002) and higher LDL cholesterol level (OR: 2.3096, p = 0.0006). The crude OR of H. pylori status on the prevalence of high body mass index (BMI) was 1.0813 (p = 0.7300) and the adjusted OR for confounding factors was 1.1785 (p = 0.5095). The strength of the association between H. pylori infection and blood pressure, shows an OR of 1.3807 (p = 0.2991), 1.0060 (p = 0.9855) and 1.4646 (p = 0.2694) for diastolic pressure, hypertension and high heart rate respectively, while that of systolic pressure was 0.8135 (p = 0.4952). H. pylori infection is associated with dyslipidemia in our milieu.

Currently, the list of microorganisms that have a possible connection with the development of rheumatoid arthritis continues to be updated. The role of not only traditional pathogens, but also representatives of conditionally pathogenic microflora is being actively studied. A number of domestic and foreign works demonstrate a high degree of Helicobacter pylori infection in patients with rheumatic diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis.The aim of the present study is to identify the frequency of detection of Helicobacter pylori infection in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and in adult residents of the city of Tula.Material and methods. The study included 3288 residents of Tula who do not have rheumatic diseases, and 119 patients with rheumatoid arthritis. To detect the infection, FEGDS was performed according to the generally accepted method with the taking of biopsies of the mucous membrane of the antrum and the stomach body, followed by verification of Helicobacter pylori using the Helpil-test test system.Results. According to the results of the data on the infection rate of residents of Tula without rheumatic diseases (n=3288), the largest percentage of infected (78.8%) was detected by an invasive method – express diagnosis of urease activity of the biopsy. The detection rate using a respiratory ammonia test and serological method was lower and amounted to 51.1 and 49.3%, respectively. In total, H. pylori was detected in 1692 people, which was 51.46%. Among patients with rheumatoid arthritis, Helicobacter pylori infection was 81.5%. Signs of damage to the mucous membrane of the upper gastrointestinal tract were often detected: superficial and subatrophic gastritis, single erosions.Conclusions. 1. Based on the study, it was found that the infection rate of Helicobacter pylori in patients with rheumatoid arthritis is at a fairly high level, not significantly different from that in residents without rheumatic diseases, when examined by an invasive method – express diagnosis of urease activity of the biopsy (81.5% and 78.8%, respectively). 2. Among patients with rheumatoid arthritis, there was a tendency to increase the frequency of infection with age and peak values in older age groups (r=0.37; p˂ 0.05). 3. The frequency of detection of erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract in infected and uninfected Helicobacter pylori patients with rheumatoid arthritis significantly differed (42.2 and 13.6%) (p=0.03).
